Previously known as Urbenville District
Hospital, the Urbenville & District Multipurpose
Service opened in February 1995.
In addition to the traditional services of hospital,
emergency care and community nursing, the MPS offers
the districts of Urbenville, Woodenbong, and Legume
a wider range of health services.
Emergency
Care
- The MPS provides emergency care
to people with conditions that cannot be treated at
a doctor's surgery.
- X Rays must be arranged by appointment,
and upon the orders of a medical practitioner.
- For non emergencies, where a doctor
is not available, persons are referred to General
Practitioners at Bonalbo or Kyogle.
Hospital & Respite Care
- The MPS provides hospital care
under the treatment of a local medical practitioner.
- Short term respite care is available
for aged people assessed as suitable for Nursing Home
or Hostel placement.
Residential Aged Care
- 18 residential aged care beds
for high care and low care residents (nursing home
and hostel) are provided. Residents do not pay entry
fees or accommodation bonds.
- Aged people admitted for nursing
home or hostel care are firstly assessed as suitable
by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT), which is
based in Lismore.
