With emerging opportunities
in eco-tourism and farm stay, Old Bonalbo is well placed
within the Upper Clarence to take advantage of its unspoilt
rural locality.
In keeping with a small country village,
basic services are offered to the community and the
visitor by a corner Post Office/General Store.
Old Bonalbo Public School, dates
from 1920, and provides for children from kindergarten
to year six.
The Old Bonalbo Soldiers Memorial
Hall, constructed in 1922 by World War I veterans, is
still used by many community groups for meetings and
social gatherings.
Natural Resource Management has become
an integral part of farming today, and the Upper Clarence
Combined Landcare office in Old Bonalbo fosters, promotes
and implements many Landcare activies throughout the
Upper Clarence and indeed the Northern Rivers. An extensive
range of environmental services and information is available.
Tourist information, maps, and local postcards are available,
and a public access Internet service is provided.
Local
attractions

Haystack Mountain: turn off at Joe’s
box, 2km south of Old Bonalbo to view the mountain central
to the local aboriginal dreamtime story of Nooloiga
a great tribal warrior whose body became the breathtaking
Mt Haystack.
Bean Creek Falls
These spectacular falls are 9 km
north of Old Bonalbo. Take in nature at it’s best
by the rock pools.
Pioneer Park
On the banks of Duck Creek, 1.5 km
north of town, Pioneer Park was created in 1988 by the
community as a bicentennial project honouring the pioneers
of the area. A good place to take the family for a day
out, with BBQ, water, and toilet facilities. |
