The river is accessible via several
bridges:
Paddys
Flat – refer Pretty Gully Circuit.
- Hootons crossing. 5km south of Old Bonalbo turn
west down Hootons Rd, and proceed some 13km on the
graded gravel road to a low level bridge crossing
the river.
- Tabulam - Access to the river is via a narrow lane,
which runs beside the Police Station and down onto
a gravel bar, affording great views of the historic
Tabulam Bridge and the Black Swans on the river. Please
shut the gate.
- Yates Crossing – refer Forgotten Country Drive.
- Lionsville Bridge At Yates Crossing travel east
across the bridge then along for 3km where you come
to a T junction. This is the Clarence Way, which follows
the path of old bullock teams that brought the wool
from the tablelands to the Port of Lawrence or Grafton.
Turn right and follow this road for 23km to Baryulgil,
turn right following the sign to Lionsville 4km along
this road a long concrete bridge crosses the Clarence
River.
- Carnham Bridge At Baryulgil continue south for another
18 km turn right where the sign reads Clarence River
18 km, Carnharn Road. Follow this road for another
18km where you come to Carnham Bridge.
