In
total, approximately 250 students
attend Woodenbong Central School each day, traveling
from as far away as Legume to the west, Dairy Flat to
the east and Tooloom to the south. Many adults also
enrol as either full-time or part-time students in order
to achieve personal educational goals.
The curriculum offered by the school is diverse, and
caters for a wide range of academic abilities and career
pathways. Students are able to achieve Australian TAFE-Standard
Certificate I & II in a number of Vocational
Education and Training (VET)
courses.
An extensive computer
network, with Internet access, allows staff and students
to be instant participants in the worldwide web of learning
and communication. Satellite transmissions into the
school Library are also an important link to distance
education.
An active Student Representative Council (SRC) promotes
school citizenship and develops leadership qualities
in students. Local churches are valued partners with
the school, delivering weekly scripture lessons to students
from Kindergarten to year 10. The P&C provides valuable
links between the school and the community it serves.
Members of the Aboriginal Community are able to input
the school via the Aboriginal Student Support and Parental
Awareness Committee.
So What is Woodenbong
Central School? It is the best little school in the
