Central School occupies an entire town block, a legacy
of the “old days” when many of the students
rode to school, and their horses needed an area to be
kept in during lesson time-the “horse paddock”
(today’s playground).
Today, Woodenbong Central School is a mixture of both
historical and modern buildings. The original single-room
building, which was “the school”, is now
preserved on site, alongside more contemporary facilities
such as the Sports Stadium, which accommodates a full-size
basketball/tennis court on a sprung hardwood floor.
The school caters for the educational need of students
from Kindergarten (5 years old) through to Year 12 (18
years old). Many students complete their entire schooling
on the one site. are shared, K-12. Students from both
the Primary and Secondary Departments share resources
such as the Library, Sports Stadium and Canteen, and
specialty rooms such as Art, Music, Science and Homes
Science.
